An Unusual Gratitude List

What are you grateful for? If you feel like sharing, I would love to hear. I am sharing my unusual list of four blessings with you because this was a year of ups and down, of belief and of disbelief in everyone and everything. And maybe if you had a year of the same, you won’t feel so alone. After all, I am still grateful, so maybe you will be too.

Here Goes:

  1. I am grateful that after admitting my lack of passion or faith in life a friend/pastor of a huge local church admitted he also goes through times when he does not believe.
  2. I am grateful to have finally lost my temper with my ex-husband several times this year, and had the chance to finally be angry at how I was treated.
  3. I am grateful for my son’s friends who texted us that he was drinking out of control, giving me the support I needed from family to finally agree to help me get him into a long-term treatment center.
  4. And most of all I am grateful for me: a person who does not stop looking within, cares about other people, and is getting to a level of honesty with myself that I never knew possible.

And while this at first may seem like an unusual list, I am thinking maybe not. Maybe there are others who might not have the same list as me, yet can relate to these unexpected kinds of blessings. I would also like to believe that this is a sign that chaos in our world is for a good reason, and if we learn from it in our lives, we might be on to something. Like turning away from trying to ignore the disconnect we have with ourselves and starting to find out just how powerful we are.

Have a wonderful thanksgiving and no matter who you spend it with, family, friends, or even alone I hope you find many reasons to be grateful.
